The Primary Reasons Which Lead To Hair Loss Or Hair Fall

Wednesday, Dec. 7th 2011About two decade backs, if someone suffered from baldness, it would be put down as a hereditary disorder and in more than 90% of the cases, this argument used to hold true. Moreover hair loss affected a miniscule part of the population and thus wasn’t considered to be a serious problem. But if the past few years are anything to go by, then the issue of hair fall has assumed epic proportions. Almost 15-20% of the world’s human population today suffers from hair fall issues with young people in their twenties and thirties falling victim to hair loss.
The scientific dictionary which explains hair loss too has had to be tweaked and today several medical factors are attributed to hair fall. I will be discussing the key factors in this article.
1. Heredity: As I explained earlier, genes play a major role in the balding effect. Male pattern baldness is a hereditary issue and is characterized by thinning hair from the front or from the sides. There is very little that you can about this kind of hair fall.
2. Stress: Mental, physical and emotional stresses are all known to contribute to hair fall.
3. Hormonal changes: Sudden hormonal changes resulting from menopause, usage of birth control pills too could lead to hair fall.
4. Diet: People with abnormal eating habits or those who go low on protein diets or severe malnutrition cases are more likely to be affected by hair loss. Lack of iron content in the body too is counted to be one of the factors of hair loss
5. Disease and illnesses: People undergoing treatment for cancer (chemotherapy) or chronic illnesses can lead to the thinning effect.
6. Climatic changes: Doctors attribute hair fall to climatic changes too. Our environments have become more polluted over the years and this indirectly has had an effect on our hair. Though this isn’t a direct cause, research and studies on numerous patients in different parts of the world have shown that climate does have a role to play in hair fall.
7. Usage of conditioners: Usage of dyes, shampoos and gels are nowadays considered to be the chief culprits of hair loss. Most of us are unaware of the ingredients that are used in used in the manufacture of these hair care products. It is believed that most of them use harsh chemicals which over a prolonged period of time cause hair damage lead to hair fall.
Therefore it is recommended that you use only trusted hair care products that have been approved by the medical body of your country. In case, you start experiencing hair loss, immediately stop usage of the product and consult a medical practitioner.
There are also hair treatment products such as Regaine which could help to re-grow hair (it is presently selling as hot cakes in the UK and US) but the results may vary from person to person.
